At an early age I was very aware of the artistic aspect of cartoons and wanted to re-create the characters I saw in Disney movies. Art ran in my family and I was lucky enough to have a talented mother who encouraged me to keep drawing. It became my favorite pastime, which I'll admit got me into trouble in elementary school. As an older child I was drawn to the style of animation in Sailor Moon and spent years trying to draw like those artists. The large swirling hair, exaggerated eyes, and pixy noses are features I still include in my present work.

As my skill progressed I began sketching realistic faces; mostly images torn out of fashion magazines once I was finished memorizing the latest fashion trends. The details of the human face fascinated me, particularly the eyes. Furthering my education in college I was exposed to artists such as Alfons Mucha and Tamera de Lempicka, which inspired me to explore dynamic compositions and whimsical characters.

Nowadays, like many others, I try to wear as many hats as possible juggling painting, graphic design, web design, and remembering to pay my phone bill! But the unyielding passion of drawing and painting drives my emotions. With each new piece of artwork I challenge myself to create something superior. It is that desire which molds an artist and guides their hand to create a life’s masterpiece.
